User types and roles

In Console, what a user can see and do is determined by their user type and role.

These are both assigned when they’re invited to UPowr, but can also be updated by UPowr support (self-serve management coming soon).

User types

A user’s type determines what they can see in Console. There are two types of users:

Principal users – Employees of the main company.
Prime contractor users – Employees of a third-party company that the principal company contracts to deliver services such as design, supply, or installation.

Prime users and prime contractor management are a UPowr Pro feature. For more information, contact UPowr support.

A user’s role determines what they can do in Console. There are four types of users:

Admin	Platform management	Manage all users, including those of prime contractor companies. Access console records and tasks for all customers. Configure company and platform settings.	Manage the users in their company. Access console records and tasks for the customers assigned to them.
Operator	Day-to-day platform operations	Access console records and tasks for all customers. Start sales and service project workflow for all customers. Designer	System design and quoting tasks	Create and manage quotes in Sales projects. Access all Console records and design-related tasks.	Create and manage quotes in Sales projects for customers assigned to them. Access all Console records and design-related tasks for customers assigned to them.
Viewer	Read-only access for visibility and reporting.	Access console records for all customers. Monitor progress and status without making changes.	Access console records for all customers assigned to them. Monitor progress and status without making changes
